About Little Einsteins

Opened January 2009

Welcome to Little Einsteins, an Early Childhood Education Centre where children from three months to six years are cared for in a warm, stimulating and learning environment, with a primary focus on positive social development and education.

We provide quality, qualified early childhood teachers and resources to enhance the children's learning and ensure their development and wellbeing. Staff are trained in First Aid and CPR alongside their Early Childhood Teaching qualifications. We have a cohesive team of enthusiastic, caring, and experienced educators.

We have four areas of operation, so that children are appropriately divided into similar learning and social groups. The infant area is from six months to 2 years, the younger toddler from 2 years to 3 years, the older intermediate group is from 3.5 years to 5 years. We have a dedicated 'transition to school class' for those that choose it that has as it's primary focus, becoming school ready, for children from 4 to 6 years old. Although this class functions with an emphasis on providing links to learning in school settings, it is hugely involved in community learning, including frequent school visits, weekly visits to our 'forest' in Te Miro to spend the day in raw nature, paddock preschool days, and many other adventures!
In the under-two's area, we have a maximum teacher to child ratio of 1:4. The intermediates (2 years to 3.5 years) maximum ratio is 1:8, and the preschool unit we have a maximum ratio of 1:10.

The centre is open plan, with large indoor and outdoor areas, as we believe that children need space to grow and learn! The centre is on 5540sqm (1 ΒΌ acres) of land, incorporating a 600sqm purpose built haven complete with fun and educational indoor toys and activities. The building is fully air conditioned.

Little Einsteins is rurally focused, working around not only animals and their feeding and care, but gardening and horticulture, growing plants and flowers, an environmental hub.
Meals are fully catered for and children encouraged to eat the vegetables and fruit that they grow as part of a healthy eating plan. We know that many parents face the dilemma of children not wanting to eat a balanced diet, and believe that if a child is responsible for the nurturing, growing and preparation of that vegetable, it might become a lot more palatable!

Outdoors, children can look forward to driving/pushing their cars/bikes/trikes around the purpose built concrete track bordering the 800sqm play area. They can dig and build and create in the shaded sandpits, or bliss out playing with taps, fountains and buckets in the wet area, designed with their safety in mind. There is ample play and climbing equipment to keep little minds and bodies occupied.

Outside of our licenced area, we offer more 'space' for your children, including a swimming pool, a BMX track and a low ropes challenge course with a climbing wall. The children can take excursions out onto the farm to feed the chickens, raise the orphan lambs, and ride the ponies, cuddle the rabbits, discover the turtles and explore the bird aviary. In addition, our large redwood forest and native garden encourage the children to develop a relationship with their natural environment. Tending and harvesting from our vegetable garden and orchard for the kitchen gives children the opportunity to learn the science of plants, of weather and bugs, and to participate in maintaining our sustainable environment whilst developing healthy eating habits!
Children's relationships at home are nurtured, we encourage parents and families to participate in their child's development and learning, and welcome you into the centre with our open door policy. We will provide you with your child's portfolio to reflect on at regular intervals, a place where we will preserve any special artwork, write development plans and assess progress of your child. We will include photographs of your child, and this is not only a fantastic way to keep in touch with your child's busy days, but a lovely keepsake for them when they are older!

With encouragement, children will explore and absorb a phenomenal amount during their first five years. We are privileged to be offered a place in this vital stage of their development, and will optimise their opportunities for learning.
